January 3, 2024 Christmas weekday – John the Baptist reveals who Jesus is

Today’s gospel shows us John the Baptist revealing that Jesus Christ is Lord. Jesus will baptize us with the Holy Spirit. John also tells us of a dove coming down from heaven which is the Holy Spirit. As I read this I also thought of the story of Noah’s Ark and the dove that was sent to reveal when the waters had receded and the olive branch was returned. I see that as the Holy Spirit as well. All three in one God show up in the Old Testament. I love how the Word of God is so integrated. May the Holy Spirit descend on all mankind and fill us.
