January 4: Saint Elizabeth Ann Seton, Religious
Joy for the recognized saint today! I wish she was on my birthday, the 11th. First saint of the US. I visited her shrine and school in Maryland. Wonderful history and works she did.
Today’s first reading says that the one who sins belongs to the devil! What a frightening thought. Other bible translations say the habit of sinning. I am so thankful to have the sacrament of reconciliation and that God forgives and has mercy on me a sinner. When the host is raised during the mass I say the prayer, Jesus, thank you for this gift for me a sinner, I am not worthy.
The responsorial psalm states”All the ends of the earth have seen the saving power of God” I pray for all those around the world that haven’t heard the good news.
In the gospel, Andrew and Peter join Jesus. I love to hear/read the stories about the different ways the apostles joined Jesus on his life mission/journey. I pray that I keep following Jesus.
