February 27, 2024 2nd week Lent
Today’s first reading is from Isaiah and he tells us to cease doing evil and learn to do good. Isn’t that what we struggle to do every day! In the gospel, Jesus is teaching the disciples how to act because he will be leaving this world soon. It is from the end of Matthew’s gospel instead of the beginning of his ministry that we have been reading so far this year. He is comparing the ministry of the Pharisees who he calls hypocrites. He says to not call yourself father or master since those should be said about the Father and the Son, Jesus. He says, “Whoever exalts himself will be humbled;
but whoever humbles himself will be exalted” Let’s try to walk in the way of Jesus. Amen!
