February 4, 2024 5th week OT
OT means ordinary time. I am up late on February 2nd due to a storm, so I am posting this weekend’s readings. I will be working Saturday and will be busy Sunday, so I don’t know if I will have time to post. There is a company in Houston TX that prints bible journals for the Catholic Church calendar and they say to always prepare for the Sunday readings throughout the week, well before the Mass. I usually read them a few times the same morning, so this is a little early. Sunday’s readings are hard to relate to one another. In the first reading, Job is pondering the meaning of his life and suffering. In the second reading, Paul writes to the Corinthians about his duty to preach the gospel. In the gospel, Jesus heals the multitude of people who show up and drive out demons. Jesus also preaches in the synagogues. He says this is why he came. Three different meanings in this Mass, don’t know how to relate them. Maybe the Holy Spirit will speak to me before I attend mass this weekend.
