February 6, 2024 Memorial of Saint Paul Miki and Companions, Martyrs
In the first reading, Solomon presents the newly built temple to the Lord. Hoping it is a fine dwelling place for the Lord and that it remains for all the Jewish people. Too bad that Nebuchadnezzar destroyed the temple when he took over and put the Jewish people into slavery once again.
In the gospel, the Pharisees pointed out to Jesus that the disciples didn’t wash their hands before eating which was a religious custom. Jesus called them hypocrites. Aren’t we all hypocrites, going to mass every week to receive the Eucharist but for the rest of the week being sinners? I pray that the Holy Spirit is with me every day and guides me to a holier way of living!
