March 2, 2024 2nd week Lent
Today’s first reading is the list of the Ten Commandments. The church has the option to omit 6 verses. I don’t understand when there is a shorter version of a reading. I always want to read the chapter! The gospel has Jesus’ parable of the prodigal son. He squanders his father’s inheritance and then realizes that he could just return home that it has to be better than starving on the streets. His father is elated to see him and throws a party. He will be treated as he never left, as a son. This is the hope for me and God the father. That I turn from sin and return to the Father and he welcomes me back as a daughter. Amen!
