April 5, 2024 Friday in the Octave of Easter
We are still in the Easter season! Amen! Alleluia! Today’s first read is a continuation of the story of Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, preaching to the people and was arrested. Peter said “There is no salvation through anyone else, nor is there any other name under heaven given to the human race by which we are to be saved.” Amen! Jesus is the answer to every question I might have about life and death, the important questions.
In the gospel, Jesus appeared to the disciples for the third time after His resurrection. This time the disciples were fishing and Jesus told them to cast the nets and they were filled with fish. Then he had a meal with them on the shore, repeating what He did at the last supper.
When I read of the suffering of the disciples after Jesus’ resurrection, I focus on the last of the beatitudes, “Blessed are you when they insult you and persecute you and utter every kind of evil against you because of Me. Rejoice and be glad, for your reward will be great in heaven” Amen!
