May 24: cygnet

Today’s toy is a crocheted cygnet, baby swan. This is a pattern by Spin a Yarn. Using Bernat softee baby and Mainstays cotton and a 2.5 mm hook, this pattern was simple to make. No feet, and the bill was really easy. This is a flat pattern where you crochet two pieces and then join them with a slip stitch while stuffing. The only tricky part was where the color change is. You need the tail of the black yarn to seam that area. Then you slip stitch on top of the beak with the white to get to the other side. I enjoy crocheting in rows. So many amigurumi patterns are in the round. It does give a different fabric.
