May 27, 2024 Monday of the Eighth Week in Ordinary Time
Today’s first reading is from the letter to Peter. Paul said that there can be good done through suffering and that we should pray for those who suffer.
In the gospel, the rich man asks Jesus how to get into heaven. After he tells Jesus he follows the laws of the Lord, Jesus tells him there is one more thing to do. Sell everything, give to the poor, and follow Him. The rich man sadly retreats because he can’t do that one thing. Jesus tells the disciples “It is easier for a camel to pass through the eye of a needle than for one who is rich to enter the Kingdom of God.”
They ask Him then who can enter? Jesus said that man cannot, but all things are possible with God. Amen!
