Today’s first reading is about persistent faith. Keep praying and God will answer you. Elijah keeps praying for rain and the rains came! Amen!
In the gospel, Jesus is still giving the sermon on the mount in Matthew 5. He urges the people to go beyond the simplicity of the commandments. Most people can follow the commandment not to kill, but Jesus said, “But I say to you, whoever is angry with his brother will be liable to judgment” The Catholic Church has an “examination of conscience “ to aid in this teaching from Jesus. Dig deep and you will be able to find those things in your life that may be keeping you from heaven and the glory of God. As Jesus says, Your sins are forgiven, go and sin no more.
