Today’s first reading is about Elijah again. He is in a cave hiding from his persecutors and God tells him to go out and choose Elisha as the next prophet. I love the passage, the Lord will be passing by. He is not in the wind. He is not in the earthquake. He is not in the fire. He is in that small whisper. Sometimes we are not looking for the smallest of whispers or signs of God’s presence, but He is always with us. Emmanuel

In the gospel, the continuation of the sermon on the mount, Matthew 5. Jesus said to not commit adultery. He said not to divorce. He also said to rid yourself of things that keep you from following the commandments. Pluck out your eye, cut off your hand. Either that or spend eternity in Gehenna since you are holding on to sin. Amen!
