Today’s first reading is the story of Athaliah. What a horrible woman and said to be worse than Jezebel, imagine that! She killed her grandchildren and set out to kill all of David’s descendants. But one was hidden, Joash. At some point he became king, put her to death, and destroyed BAAL.

Today’s gospel talks about light and darkness. Jesus said your eye is the lamp for the body. If it is bad, you will live in darkness. If it is good, you will be filled with light! He also said do not store treasures here on Earth. Rather, store treasures in heaven! Amen!
