June 24, 2024 Solemnity of the Nativity of Saint John the Baptist

Today’s first reading is about the coming of a servant to all. Many believe it is speaking about Jesus but it could be about John the Baptist.
Today’s second reading is talking about the reason John was sent ahead of Jesus. He baptized with water but always said there was someone greater than he. One that would baptize with the Holy Spirit.
In the gospel , John was born to Elizabeth and Zechariah. They named him John even though that wasn’t a family name. Zechariah had his speech returned to him.
