July 14, 2024 Fifteenth Sunday in Ordinary Time

In today’s first reading, Amos is called to prophesy, even with opposition from the king. We are all ordinary people, but God/Jesus wants us to evangelize. But we are not alone. Through baptism, we have the Holy Spirit to guide us.
In the second reading, Paul said we exist to praise His glory! We are all chosen, each given a name.
In the gospel, Jesus gives direction for those who are set out to evangelize. Bring nothing but a staff, not a second cloak, no money. My commentary said that in today’s times, Jesus would say to leave worry and anxiety behind and go out and tell your story. You must have had people in your life who shared the good news. Now you/I must go out and proclaim the good news of Jesus! Amen!
