July 29, 2024 Memorial of Saints Martha, Mary, and Lazarus

In today’s first reading, God is angry with Judah. He tells Jeremiah to bury a loincloth. It was destroyed. God said that would happen to Judah since they deny Him.
In the gospel, there are two stories, both about Martha and Mary. When I attended two retreats with the Catholic Church, they had helpers called Marthas. Oh the joy in serving others! Amen! The first gospel story is the raising of Lazarus and Martha’s belief in Jesus, in the resurrection. The second gospel story is Martha complaining of Mary not helping. Jesus said that Mary is doing what she should. She was worshiping her Lord.
Come Holy Spirit, guide us.
