In today’s first reading, God said to the shepherds that they are only tending to themselves and leaving His flock to wander. God said He will shepherd His flock.

In the gospel, Jesus told the parable of the man with a vineyard that hired people throughout the day and then paid them equal wages regardless of the hours spent in the vineyard. My commentary said that we could use that story to consider one’s faith and how long each person lives as Jesus wants. For if we ask for forgiveness in the last moments before death, we should be forgiven and enter into heaven. Jesus made the same statement as yesterday: the last will be first and the first shall be last. Amen!
