This is a holy day of obligation. We recognize all saints whether canonized or not. Those people who live the way God intended and showed us all the mercy and love of God. Let us pray for them and ask for their intercession. Amen!

In the first reading, John described the souls in heaven never ceasing to praise God. They have washed themselves clean with the blood of the Lamb, Jesus.

In the second reading, we are called to be children of God. Let our lives imitate what is necessary to become saints and see God’s face.

In the gospel, Jesus laid out the framework of a Christian life. Going beyond the Ten Commandments, we have things to strive for to become holy as Jesus was holy. These include: 1: poor in spirit, 2: mourn, 3: meek, 4: hunger and thirst for righteousness, 5: merciful, 6: clean of heart, 7: peacemakers, 8: persecuted for the sake of righteousness, finally, rejoice and be glad when you are persecuted for your faith. Your reward will be great in heaven. Amen!
