November 10, 2024 Thirty-second Sunday in Ordinary Time
Today’s first reading is of Ezekiel asking a widow for water and bread. She says her flour and oil are running dry. He says that the Lord will provide and the jar of flour and jug of oil won’t run empty until the rains come. She was able to eat for a year.
In the second reading, Paul says, “Christ will appear a second time, not to take away sin
but to bring salvation to those who eagerly await him.“ I pray that I am “eagerly” awaiting Him!
In the gospel, Jesus observes the people giving to the temple. Many give large amounts and then a poor widow gives a few cents. Jesus tells His disciples that she gave more because she gave all she had and the others gave from surplus. In the sermon I watched, he asked how do we give and how do we pray for others? From our surplus?
