Today we celebrate Jesus as Christ the King, the last Sunday before the new liturgical year that starts with Advent. In the first reading, Daniel talks about the kingdom of Jesus prophesying His coming.
The second reading is the start of Revelation. Jesus is King, the Alpha and Omega, worthy of praise.
In the gospel, Pilate asks Jesus, Are you the king of the Jews? Jesus responds, “My kingdom does not belong to this world.
If my kingdom did belong to this world,
my attendants would be fighting
to keep me from being handed over to the Jews.
But as it is, my kingdom is not here.”
