Today’s first reading is about Jezebel falsely accusing her neighbor to have him stoned to death so that her husband could claim his land.
The gospel continues from Matthew 5, the sermon on the mount. Jesus said if someone strikes you on the cheek, turn to offer the other cheek. If someone wants your tunic, offer your cloak as well. If someone asks for your labor for one mile, give him two. “Give to the one who asks of you,
and do not turn your back on one who wants to borrow.”
