Today’s first reading is about war against God’s people. Hezekiah asked the Lord to save his people from the Assyrians and God answered. The Assyrians were sent back to their land.

In the gospel, we are still reading about the sermon on the mount that starts in Matthew 5. Jesus tells us three things:

Do not give what is holy to dogs, or throw your pearls before swine,
lest they trample them underfoot, and turn and tear you to pieces.

Do to others whatever you would have them do to you.

Enter through the narrow gate, the pathway to life.
