July 5, 2024 Friday of the Thirteenth Week in Ordinary Time

Today’s first reading is still Amos trying to warn the people of the wrath of God for the sinfulness. He said that the people will yearn for the word of God that will be taken from them. I wish more people today would yearn for the word. There are two meanings for the word. It is the Bible and all that God wants us to know and live by and it’s also Jesus Christ.
In the gospel, Jesus called Matthew and Matthew followed Him. Jesus said that He is not here for the righteous, but for sinners. I am definitely a sinner, striving for sainthood.
Come Holy Spirit! Fill the hearts of the faithful! Give us faith, hope, and love!
