Today’s first reading is the hope of God returning the Jews to their given land. God promises that His people will not be taken from their land again. My commentary said that all of the readings today are about God’s overwhelming abundance.
In the gospel, Jesus tried to explain why his disciples do not have to fast. There will come a time when they fast, when the bridegroom, He is referring to Himself, will be gone. Jesus also talked about a torn garment being repaired with a new cloth and wine put in old wine skins. My commentary said that He was probably referring to the Pharisees trying to fit Jesus’ teaching into their own religion. It doesn’t fit!
