Today’s first reading is the conclusion of Hosea and it brings hope. Hope that the people will return to offering sacrifice to the one true God. God never gives up on us sinners.
In the gospel, Jesus warns us of persecution. He said that when you have to defend your faith, the Holy Spirit will provide the words. Before we listen to the gospel in church, we make little crosses on our foreheads, our lips, and our hearts recognizing that the gospel should forever be in our minds, on our lips, and in our hearts.
