Today’s first reading is about the call of Isaiah. He dreams of heaven and coming face to face with God. “Then I heard the voice of the Lord saying, Whom shall I send? Who will go for us? Here I am,” I said; “send me!”

In the gospel, Jesus still tells the disciples how to act when going out to proclaim the gospel. He said do not be afraid of the ones who can kill the body, meaning persecution. You need to fear the one who kills the soul and body in Gehenna, meaning the devil.
