Jeremiah, in the first reading, talks of the hope of the people returning to Jerusalem after the exile. Even though there are but a few remaining, they now enter back into the covenant with God, rebuilding their nation.

In the gospel, after stating the parable of the sower and the seed, Jesus explained the parable in the contest of the seed being the word of God. I contemplate where I am in this parable, path, rocky ground, thorns, or rich soil? Over my lifetime, the majority has been in the thorns! Let’s turn it around! Amen!
