Today’s first reading is about the persecution of Jeremiah. He speaks badly about the people and they want to kill him. At that time, he convinces them that the Lord sent him and it is only the word of the Lord that he preaches. The leaders protect him from death.
In the gospel, the account of John the Baptist killing is read. Herod provides his daughter with the head of John on a platter and she gives it to her mother. John was only speaking the word of God when telling Herod that he shouldn’t commit adultery.
My commentary said “The word of God remains, even when the prophet is persecuted/killed for preaching it” So true!
God’s creation
