Paul discussed the traditions and laws of the Jews in today’s first reading. Even though he was circumcised in the Jewish faith, he said it is not necessary for Christians. They need to focus on their relationship with Christ now and not on the many rules of the Jewish religion.
In the gospel, Jesus tells a parable for all those who were upset that He was dining with sinners and tax collectors. He said that the shepherd will leave the 99 to search for the one lost sheep. It is the same with one sinner being saved, rejoicing in heaven. And He said that the woman that searches for the lost coin and when she finds it, she rejoices and tells everyone. So too will God rejoice the sinner who was lost and now found. Amen!
