Today’s first reading is from Daniel that predicts the coming of Jesus as the judgement day. The most striking verse is “some shall live forever, others shall be an everlasting horror and disgrace”

In the second reading, Paul told the Hebrews that we have had the last sacrifice for sins and that is Jesus. No longer is the need for animal sacrifice at the altar.

In the gospel, Jesus talks about judgement day. He said there will be signs, like the fig tree showing its leaves before summer. He said that only the Father knows when the time will come. Be alert, be ready, atone for your sins, live like it is your last day on earth.
