Today’s first reading is again from Revelation. It speaks about two mysterious beings. They are prophets who have been given 3.5 years to prophesy. At the end of the reading they are taken up to heaven by God. My commentary said that we hope to follow them. Amen!
In the gospel, another group of religious leaders ask Jesus the question about heaven. They do not believe in resurrection. They ask about a woman who marries seven brothers one at a time as they die leaving her a widow. Who is her husband in heaven? Jesus responds with God being for the living and not the dead. He refers to the resurrection without actually saying it. He stumped them once again. They did not ask Him anything else. Of course we believe in the resurrection. Jesus rose from the dead and ascended into heaven. Amen!
