December 9, 2024 Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception of the Blessed Virgin Mary

Today is a feast day for the immaculate conception of Mary as a baby, not of Jesus. In the first reading, the story of Eve is told. She sinned against God and He gave punishment. It says that she would rule over the serpent and Adam named her Eve, the mother of the living.
In the second reading, Paul said we were chosen by God to love one another and to spread the good news. We need to be accepting of others and say yes to God, just like Mary did.
In the gospel, Mary is visited by an angel that tells her she was chosen to be the mother of God. An immaculate conception of Jesus. Mary says yes! Amen!
