February 24, 2024 1st week Lent
Today’s first reading is Moses telling his people that if you enter into an agreement with God to follow the commandments, then God “agrees” to “raise you high in praise and renown and glory above all other nations and you will be a people sacred to the Lord, your God” This passage says “agreement” but it is also a covenant. In the gospel of Matthew chapter 5 is the teaching of Jesus that includes the beatitudes, the sermon on the mount. This passage Jesus tells us to love our enemies and pray for those who persecute us. Thankfully those people are far away from me physically. Today I pray for all those who hate! Love one another! Amen!
