February 28, 2024 2nd week Lent
Today’s first reading is from the prophet Jeremiah where he tells God that people want to persecute him. Sometimes I ask God why. Why I have ailments or financial issues or something else that I think is unfair, since I try to be a good catholic and I trust in Him. And the days still pass… In the psalm, it is what Jesus says on the cross, always quoting scripture, “Into Your hands I commend my spirit “ In the gospel, Jesus tells the disciples that he will be handed over, scourged, put to death and be raised from the dead. I wonder what the disciples were thinking? Matthew then tells of the woman who asks Jesus to sit one son on His left and one son on His right in His kingdom. Jesus says she does not know what she is asking. He says for anyone who wants to be first, will be a slave. You must serve others as He did.
