March 9, 2024 3rd week Lent
Today’s first reading is from the prophet Hosea. He says “He will revive us after two days; on the third day he will raise us up, to live in his presence.” Many of Jesus’ “fulfillments” are in the Old Testament. The Bible does say He is the word and the word became flesh and dwelt among us (John 1:14) The psalm today is one of my favorites! Psalm 51 My favorite verse is “A clean heart create for me, God;
renew within me a steadfast spirit.” In the gospel, Jesus tells the parable of the Pharisee and the tax collector. The tax collector says ‘O God, be merciful to me a sinner.’ My prayer during mass when the priest holds up the host and cup is “thank you Lord for Your sacrifice for me, a sinner”. Amen!
