March 10, 2024 4th week Lent
Today, the fourth Sunday of Lent is called Laetare Sunday similar to Gaudete Sunday which is the third Sunday of Advent. The priest wears pink that symbolizes joy, hope, and anticipation. It reminds the faithful that even during times of penance and preparation, there is always reason to rejoice and hope. Jesus said that a Christian life was not easy, but repent. The first reading is stating that the people of Judah were not following God and He was judging their sins and allowing destruction, right before Babylonian exile. The result is to repent of your sins. Turn to Him, He is merciful! The second reading Paul says God is rich in mercy and through Grace you have been saved. In the Gospel, the famous John 3:16, God so loved the world, He sent His only son so that anyone who believes in Him might have eternal life. It goes on to say, the light came into the world. Jesus is the light of the world. Be the light! Amen!
