March 23, 2024 5th week Lent
Today’s first reading is from Ezekiel and the Lord speaks about what he wants from his people to not be divided into Judah and Israel. He wants them to follow his commandments and stop worshipping idols. He wants to be their shepherd. In the gospel, the Jews plot to kill Jesus. Caiaphas, a high priest says that killing one to save many lives is best. The problem is that it was the killing of an innocent person who was and is the son of God. This next week is when we try to experience the Lord’s passion. Holy week starts with Palm Sunday which is a celebration. I always enjoy getting the palms and thinking of the time when the crowd celebrated Jesus. Amen!
