May 5: bird design
Today’s toy is a bird I designed, knitted. I have made a few of these. I start with a figure 8 cast on like toe up socks and increase 6 stitches every other round up to 42 and then knit some and then decrease twice for the neck and increase for the head. I put plastic in the bottom so it sits nicely. I add a beak and feet in yellow. This pattern uses worsted weight yarn and I think it is fun with self striping yarn. For this one, I held two strands of soft secret yarn from Hobby Lobby. Also used was size 2 needles.
