July 20: spider

Today’s toy is a crocheted spider. My design. I am still trying to come up with little toys for Halloween trick or treaters. Using Bernat blanket yarn and Lion Brand Pound of love and a 4.5 mm hook, I included my pattern notes on Ravelry. https://www.ravelry.com/projects/CraftingInTx/spider

July 19: cow

Today’s toy is a crocheted cow. Design by Lauren Espy, but the longhorn I designed. It has a pipe cleaner in it so it can be shaped. Using Super Saver yarn, Pound of Love yarn, Hobby Lobby’s Yarn ID, and a 3 mm hook, I used colors for UT longhorns. Super cute pattern.

July 18: horse

Today’s toy is a crocheted horse. I thought I would make a zebra with the monkey lovey pattern. The hexagon body is so good! I used a marl yarn, Bernat blanket, and my family agreed that a zebra needs stripes, so this is a horse. Using Bernat blanket and a 4.5 mm hook, this toy…

July 17: lamb

Today’s toy is a crocheted lamb. I was working on a vintage pattern and the toy was coming out too big, so I ripped out the body, but kept the head. I then used the monkey lovey pattern by Crochet at Teri’s to make a body. The hexagon construction is so fun to make. Using…

July 15: snowman

Today’s toy is a crocheted snowman. Design by wondercrochet. Using acrylic yarn from Amazon, Red Heart super saver, Mainstays anti-pilling acrylic, and a 3 mm hook, I couldn’t resist this cute snowman. I used safety eyes for eyes and buttons, so it is not a toy for children. I will sell it at the church…

July 13: gnome

Today’s toy is a crocheted gnome. This time it is the snowflake gnome. Design by Kristi Simpson. Using Hobbii’s rainbow cotton 8/4, Garden 5, Scheepjes Catona, and a 2 mm hook, this was one of the simple ones to make. I have embroidered snowflakes before so it wasn’t difficult, but tricky the first time you…

July 12: gnome

Today’s toy is a crocheted gnome. Design by Kristi Simpson. Using Scheepjes catona cotton, Yarn Art Jeans, and a 2 mm hook, this was fun to make. It turned out small. I would like to make larger ones. Not a fan of the band around the hat. Also, the beard was not a joy to…

July 11: bear

Today’s toy is a crocheted bear. Design by Terry Kimbrough, in the book holiday bears. I used the pattern for the bee bear, but just used one variegated color for the tummy. Using King Cole Christmas chunky, Lion Brand Heartland, and 4 mm hook, this bear was fun to make. The pattern is quite old,…
