February 11, 2024 6th week OT
OT means ordinary time. This is the last Sunday of Ordinary Time for a while. Ash Wednesday is this week and then Lent starts. Then we have the Easter season. I love this time of year to contemplate the struggles my Lord went through as a man for me!
Today’s first reading was the law for the leper. I had a rash on my hands and arms for a while, like two years, in Colorado. It was a visible problem like being a leper and I did experience the people around me trying to avoid me. It is hard to be isolated like that. In the second reading, Paul says to try to imitate Christ like he does. In the gospel, Jesus heals a leper and tells him to tell no one. Of course the healed man cannot keep silent and it becomes very difficult for Jesus to visit towns due to the crowds. Although they do find him in the remote areas as well. The amazing part of the gospel is that Jesus touched the leper, which is unheard of. I’m sure the leper was astounded by Jesus’ healing power! Jesus, heal me! Amen!
