March 19, 2024 Solemnity of Saint Joseph, husband of the Blessed Virgin Mary
Today’s readings all focus on David’s heir that will have favor with God. I guess the church is saying that Joseph is that heir? In the gospel, there are two to choose from today, Matthew and Luke. The story in Matthew is of the dream Joseph had to take Mary as his wife even though she was with child. The story in Luke is when Jesus was 12 and his parents found him in the temple after three days of looking for him. Both stories focus on Joseph, the earthly father of Jesus. Joseph had great faith. He taught Jesus well. He had to die to self and live for Christ. Let’s all do that! Amen!
