Today’s first reading is from the prophet Jeremiah and he states that the Lord has commanded and the people still turn from Him and do evil. “Faithfulness has disappeared” Since the days of Adam and Eve, we see many instances of people turning away from God. Is that in human nature? God does give us free will, but why is evil so easy for us and following God’s plan so hard? In the gospel, Jesus says “Whoever is not with me is against me, and whoever does not gather with me scatters.” He says this after people accuse Him of driving out a demon for Beelzebul, the devil. It is difficult for them to believe He is from Heaven. I pray that I do not succumb to evil and follow Jesus. Amen!
