June 13: summer mouse

Today’s toy is a knitted mouse. The design is by Jean Greenhowe. She designed four mice, one for each season. Using Hobbii’s cotton 8/4 and size 2 needles, this mouse was fun to make even though I frown on the “bridal” theme. Jean said to use a colored pencil for the inside of the rose buds, but that didn’t work on the cotton, so I used a sharpie. The veil was a set of dropped stitches to create the lace fabric, but I didn’t pull out all of the stitches. This created a crescent shape to the bottom of the veil. Also, I knitted the rosebuds in a row, by casting on 6 and then just passing over five. Then I rolled up the row into the bouquet.
